Hey JoomlaJunkies crew,

Here a junkie from Holland. "Alles goed?"
I was trying to make a horizontal drop-down menu with some suckerfish code
at www.sun-webdesign.nl/infomki.

In Firefox(3.0) it runs ok.
But in Internet Explorer. (My version 6.0, didn't try other versions.....
it won't load sub-menu's...

I searched many forums, but did not find any good solution.
Some have fixed the problem by seperating CSS and JS files and linked separately in index.php(template). I tried it too, but I had no success.
This problem is going on almost two days...

I think many people before me had the same problem as I read above.
Can you please give me some advise to fix it by myself?
I must know what the problem is.

By the way, you guys have great templates and other work, cool name and cool dream. I wanna share that dream too... but maybe later, a lot of work to do in the rainy dutch days.

Hi Karman,
Yup, alles goed hier in suid afrika ;0)

A quick fix for your menu is to use the extended menu module, which includes the fix for IE6 You can download it here: http://extensions.joomla.org/compon...k/link_id,163/Itemid,35/. Instructions on how to setup can be found the module developers website

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Chris

Hello Chris,

I have the Extended menu already installed in the beginning.
In IE7 ,FF, Opera, Safari the dropdown menu works fine.
Only the IE 6 is pissing me off. Only shows bar, but no drop downs.
Do I need to create seperate menu for IE 6, since the browser is used by at least 30% of all users nowadays.
Please help me out.

Hi Karman,
The extended menu does include the javascript that is needed to fix ie6 to allow for drop downs. Essentially the problem lies with IE6 not allowing you to set the hover attribute on html elements that are not links - so the javascript simply adds a class on to those elements on the fly tricking ie into behave. I've used the extended menu a couple of times and it definitely works

The issue that was mentioned in this post was due to the javascript file not being included in the templates index.php - so it isnt related. I would suggest you start from scratch, without adding any styling until its 100% working in all browsers.

Hope this helps
Cheers,
Chris
