remove shading 7 Months ago
Hi,

Could someone tell me where the css that creates the shading along the bottom edge of the blue/orange/green horizontal bar that runs across the background at the top is, please?

Thanks.
NoBob.

Hi NoBob,
Download and install the firefox extension called Firebug. It will soon become your new best friend It has an option where you click the bottom green tick icon, select the option "inspect" then click on the element that you want to inspect. If you click anywhere on your site it will tell you where the css is located.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I already installed Firebug that and an that's why I'm asking... I'm not a website designer and bought the template because I thought I'd get better support than if I used a free template.

Could you tell me how to change the shading colour, please?

Thanks,
NoBob.

Hi NoBob,
The point of me suggestion you first *try* firebug is based on the simple parable "give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime". Firebug is the most insanely powerful tool and just learning to use the "inspect tool" will make your life a heck of a lot easier

Anywho, back to your question..

The shadow that you mention is a part of the background image that is set on the body element. The template comes with the original fireworks source file, so you can adjust as you like

Cheers,
Chris

change left column width 7 Months ago
Thanks Chris.

Redid the jpeg in photoshop, so got that fixed.

But I used Firebig inspect again to see how to change the width of the left column. In inspect it says it's the sidebar values in layout.css that need changing.

#sidebar {

float:left;

width:160px;

margin: 0;

margin-left: 10px;

display:inline;

padding: 0 8px 10px 8px;

margin-top:-7px;

}

Did that but it doesn't change the column width.

What css values do i need to change please?

Thanks.

NoBob

Hi NoBob,
Supremacy is using Faux Columns (a background image set on the #main div to give the impression of equal height columns). In order to adjust the sidebar width, you would need to update the background image, as well as adjust the sidebar and content divs.
Cheers,
Chris
