You are using Joomla 1.5... just open template manager from the top menu and then click to eidt.

This will open all of the parameters for the template and you can configure all of the settings.

For the header section, you have 2 options

OPTION 1: CSS BACKGROUND IMAGE
You can choose to have a css background image which is displayed on all pages.

OPTION 2: COLLAPSIBLE INTELLI MODULES ONLY
The last option will load the shelf with an intelli module position (ie, one module position that can accomodate up to 3 modules). No css background image is specified in this option. The last option also allows you to only display the shelf on pages that have a module assigned to that position.
The header area you can set to use "image", then just replace the header image with your own image (keep the name the same will be easiest) Alternatively you can set the header section to modules, and this will load a module position and you can assign a header rotator or whatever you want there.

You currently have yours set to "image" and the css refers to this image - "retro-lines.jpg". If you add your image to the same location with the same name, it will show up.

You said, "must this also be done in the html".. Its impossible for us to make every part of the template work without you touching the code but we have added features to try accommodate for this.... like the header feature, you can set it to modules and then add a header rotator module and have the images without touching the code, but lets be honest, you are developing a website..... getting your hands dirty with code is part of the job, especially if you want to have some level of customization.

To assign something to the toolbar position, just publish a module to this position... Open the module, and then in the position parameter set it to toolbar and make sure its published...

Thanks for the reply...
when I click edit I only get preview|edit html|edit css| I have nothing about facelift. It is in the snappa dir under templates though
I can't find anywhere to set the header area to image
I attempted to do exactly what you suggested for the toolbar but that option was not available to publish a module to. I am trying again.
Thanks and please feel free to talk me thru it like you would a child because right now I am feeling a little simple for not being able to understand this..

I attempted again to publish a module to the toolbar position but it is not there, I will now try to create the position, I think I have header img fixed, but still see no place for the facelift. it is in the code and the dir is there...

I am now tinkering with the template options and have managed to make the default logo dissappear.
I followed the instruc in the options file and changed everything but still no logo txt, I uploaded the fonts to the font dir in facelift also. I changed it back to image, I can not get the facelift to work
toolbar options still not there.
feel free to go in and look around the login p/w is 'admin'

also when I change the menu on left to flat as suggested the separator lines are wider than the space, I have to change it to vertical. I prefer the flat look.

Any particular reason you are running the Joomla 1.0.x version of this template with Joomla 1.5??? This is why you are not getting any configuration options.... This is only a feature with 1.5 fully compliant templates.... This version of snappa is also available and should be used instead.

Joomla 1.0.x requires you to edit the code to change parameters, it was the only way.... this is new in 1.5..

Install the correct version and your problems should all go away....
