we cant disallow modules in pages??? 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi
I am trying this template out. I see that though I try to set the top shelf - user 1,2, 5 and 6 - modules as unpublished on any page other than the home page, they continue to display as long as the module is published. I would like that to be corrected, so the modules display only on the pages where they are allowed to be displayed.
the site is a trial site at http://sudhir.smartmicrosystems.org
I have made sure the top shelf modules and the 2 marked as hot property are disallowed at all pages except home, but they continue to show.
Please inform me the code changes to add in the template index.php or any other files, so I can do them and improve my php also, parallelly .
Thanks

PS. your templates are GREAT!!

Hi,

I am not sure what you mean, when I go to the other pages on your website none of the other modules show up at all. The top section collapses, its only on the home page that I see the top modules.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi guys
sorry I didnt communicate properly. I meant that when the 'read more' link is pressed, it remains in the front page, and so continues to show the top shelf. Is there any way of making the 'read more' link open in another page.. yukk...... sorry I didnt express myself clearly.

Hi,

I see now what you are refering to, however this has nothing to do with the template. The template just counts the modules that are being loaded and loads them onto the page. Joomla handles the assignment of modules to pages, so this is where you must look.

I remember having a similar problem before and it was an issue with the way joomla assigns an itemid to a page. If you look at the links they all have an itemid=1 and so does the url, so Joomla sees this as the same page and assigns the module.

I am not sure of a workaround, my suggestion is to post on the Joomla.org forum.

Cheers,

Andrew

If those modules are always the same content you could simply recreate them using html in a module and use a image as the read more button that manually links to your article. Make sure you change the new moduels to only be shown on the fronpage.

I "think" that might work as a workaround.
