Slow response times and load issues. 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hey guys, for the past two weeks of developing the front page of my site - i've been trying to ignore the first load of my site after a few hours day in and day out.

Once I have loaded the site, it seems to load almost instantly but upon myself and others first load of the day and after loading the site 2 hours from before, it takes 16 seconds before the site responds and loads.

So far I have re-installed Joomla, yet to fix this problem.

Now i'm seeking you guys help as I love Joomla and I don't want to change my content managment system, but I feel if I can't get this resolved then I will have to.

I'd produced this "Joomla Forum Post Assistant" diagnostic

Problem Description:
Site takes upwards of 15 seconds upon first load to load the entire page, all other sites and pages on my server run instantly so it\'s not my server.

Actions Taken To Resolve:
Gzip has been enabled, have re-installed Joomla 1.5 a few times, problem still remains.

Hi Greg,
I loaded bot your joomla and forum sites the joomla site actually loaded (for me at least) in 11.6 seconds, where as you forum site took 15.81 seconds. I'm not sure what else to suggest, apart from combining your css files into 1 and double checking all the image sizes.

Well, the combined size of both of my custom images is 110 - the rest of the images are stock that came with the absolute flush skin.

I think this is an internal problem with Joomla, no one is answering me on joomla.org though

That's my support thread.

Hi Greg,
Joomla 1.5 performance wise is unfortunately not quite there yet (see the benchmark link at the bottom). According to Google, the issue is definitely not with the page size. I've posted a number of links that will hopefully help you speed up your site..
Cheers,
Chris
