Template issue with component "jReviews"... 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I am having an issue with my new template "Flex Photos" and the jReviews component. I was working with jReviews support in trying to get it fixed, but they were unable to determine the cause of the issue. When I revert to my previous template (Rockettheme, Replicant template), the reviews component works well. However, with Flex photos, when I try to "edit" content from the front end, and click "submit", the loading icon never goes away, and the page just hangs without submitting.

You should be able to duplicate this by logging into the frontend (with administrator access), click on "Restaurants", click on any restaurant, then you should see an "Edit" icon near the top of the listing. While in the edit screen, try making a minor change to the listing and select "Save" - it never goes anywhere...

jReviews backend config allows you to "disable" the scripts it needs for it to work, in case a certain template is already loading that specific js, for compatibility reasons. I did notice that it looks like both the component and template load a version of the prototype.js, however, even when disabling this in the component or template, i still have the same issue...

Any idea as to what may be conflicting with this template???

Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Dan,
This seems a bit odd - as i took all the templates javascript out, so apart from the menu js (which is stock standard) i don't see what there is to conflict with?

I don't know either... But if I switch to another template, it immediately begins working again. jReviews support was confused by this as well....

Hi Dan,
The only JS i can see in the rendered source (from the template) is the reflection.js. Try removing that and see if it helps.

On a side note, i noticed you have changed the template to be fixed width (though this is not working in IE6). Have you considered using Ario Dark instead? Its already fixed width and (imo) a bit better suited to the sites theme.. Just my 5 cents

Cheers,
Chris

I hadn't really looked at the Ario Dark template, but I do like it... Would there be any way for me to try it with my website to see if I am going to have issues with jReviews, or do I just have to buy it???

Thanks again for all your help...
