JoomlaJunkie - Joomla Template Provider Bringing color to the Joomla community

Hello,

I'm sure it's something really simple and most likely on my end, but I installed JJ Flex Photos on my site and proceeded to use the source files to edit the header so I could add my logo. I did all that and then renamed my edited files to match the naming of the original ones (branding-logo-green.jpg, etc.) Problem is, that space is showing up blank and I remembered that it was also blank before I made the edits (ie on the new install the Flex Photos logo wasn't showing up).

I read the readme and didn't find any information but I'm wondering if there are any changes that I need to make somewhere in order to get the logo headers to show up? The link is still there and functional where you would expect the logo header to be but it's still blank. Any info on how to get it to show up or, if there are instructions elsewhere that I simply missed, please just point me to a link.

Also, I'm having trouble with the custom login module on this install. I followed the instructions and am getting this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function josspoofvalue() in /home/missito/domains/organicchurchcommunity.com/public_html/modules/mod_flexphotos_login.php on line 78

Do I need to delete this line from the php file? Is there an updated module that I should be using?

Logo issues.

Is this a logo you edited in yourself? If so there is no image at this URL and the site is looking for it.
Normally all you have to do is change the image at templates/jj_flex_photos/images/branding-logo-red.jpg, and of course one for each color.

Custom Login.
Mambo development has slowed to a death crawl over the past few years. I cannot tell what version of Mambo you are using but I would think this might be your issue. If you see in the error it says josspoofvalue, and jos=Joomla. I would suggest giving Joomla a try and see if that helps a lot of the little quirks. On the up side you will have far more options when it comes to extensions and better security overall as Joomla is more actively being developed.

Ah, I feel dumb. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't realize that I had edited one of the files previously. Sorry about that...

In reference to your suggestion about Joomla, I'm considering going with Joomla 1.5 and I'm wondering if the Flex Photos template, will be compatible with it? I'm not sure what the difference would be in terms of how it would run. Any info you could give would be really helpful!!

Joomla 1.5 is my preferred Joomla flavor, but Joomla 1.0x isnt all bad. It mostly depends upon how much you plan on updating or patching your site. J1.0 has been around for a while and was based on Mambo, (as you know), which has also been around for a while, so it is quite hardened. J1.5 is newer, but I prefer it's features and backend layout much more.

You will actually get at least three different opinions here as to the best one to use, so the thing I usually recommend is to try them both. there are quite a few products that allow you to run Joomla locally on your computer in a self contained file so it makes it easy to play around. Look for Joomla standalone servers. I think there are at least 7 for the PC.

As for Flex running on J1.5. You can enable what is called a "legacy plugin" that will allow you to use older templates on newer version of Joomla. In theory everything should work fine, in practice you might run into little quirks here and there. If you want to avoid the hassle the fasted path to completion would be Flex and J1.0 though.
