menu active state ? 2 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi guys,
Can you take a look at a new site in development over at http://www.subfm.co.nz/index.php

The menu doesn't seem to hold the active tab (white) on most items except for the Menu item with a dropdown.

Maybe I'm missing something silly here but rather not spend hours on this small problem in case you have a one minute answer!

Cheers

Damian

I think this behavior is caused when you are making menu items. For example, when you made the "Our Mission" did you simply use "add external link" in the joomla backend and paste the link in, or did you link it via the article creation?

(I hope that makes sense)

Thanks for looking but every link was made with Joomla's internal links directly to static content, components etc. Any other ideas?

I tried it on my test installation and it worked good on default. Not sure so I will throw some lobs out there, maybe one will hit.

-try to set the "Full active highlighting" in the module manager for the "top" position.

-In some case, if you have many menus and have the same menu items on different menutype, the problem with item id can kill the active status of the menu. As far as I know, this is a know issues for both Joomla (up to 1.0.8) and Mambo

If none of those work, you can always fire me off a user/pass to your site and I can give it a look.

ooookay.

You were actually doing some confusing things with your homepage link. Its usually best to have the frontpage component as the default I rearranged that and the home link started to highlight properly.

The other link to the static content proved to be a bit harder. As it turn out that article was linked numerous times, and when a article has numerious links Joomla does not know which one is the active one to highlight.
Anyhow, long story short to fix that I enabled the unique itemid parameter under the menu setting for it. You can read more about that fix at joomla.org here. http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=127&t=76598

Hope that does it for ya. I like what you have done with the site.
