The site appears to drag after installing Auora. 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
The site appears to drag after installing Auora. It takes forever to navigate the front and backend. What could be the problem? I have a few Joomla instalation and never had this problem. My other joomla sites are running fast and they are all in the same server as the auora site.

Are you still having this problem? I looked at your site a few times and even went to the admin url and did not experience any speed issues.

For what it is worth, I've been comparing a fresh install of Extreme Blogger and Auroa on my local server. Auroa loads much slower than Extreme Blogger. Granted it's just a second or so, but it's slow enough that I'm not comfortable selecting it for client development.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your feedback on the load speeds of Aurora, I am a little surprised at this, because Aurora is a heck of allot lighter than extreme blogger and almost any other template we have produced, mainly because it is loading virtually no images, other than the background images and the transparent repeating blocks. The functionality of Aurora is all based on altering the css and specifying which images and colors to load, so there is no duplication.

One thing that can be causing the slow speeds is the javascript for the menu or flickr module, are you using the flickr module at all? if not, is it turned off in the config? If not it will be loading the scriptaculous scripts for nothing. However Aurora is running almost identical javascript to Ex Blogger

I will have a peek into this matter and see if there is something we can do to speed it up, if you can provide any more info on this, like different load speeds in browsers etc that may help it will be great.

This is a speed test on Aurora and this shows very good load speeds (0.66seconds):

Thanks again,

Andy

I am having the same problem!

Here is my site: http://newforestweb.com
For the purposes of demonstration, I have (at the moment) set some pages to Aurora and the others to a plainer template. The plain template loads in a second. The Aurora pages take 10-20 seconds.

I used this Firefox add-on to quantify the varying load times: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1743

A similar effect is observed in IE, although I don't have a plug-in for IE to quantify the difference in performance.

I joined the template club because I love the look of Aurora and am excited by it's design possibilities. As it is, it isn't a practical choice because it makes the site run unacceptably slow - which doesn't look good in my line of business!

If there is something I am doing wrong, I would be delighted to be advised of it! Otherwise, I would be hugely grateful for a fix on the template

Checked your site - mine behaves exactly the same way, so I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Is there support on this forum?

UPDATE: Checked my site load time using the web tool you listed above - 7.56 seconds to load.
