Answered: SuperSlider and JSQuery Conflict with other component

Hi, I have installed and tried 3 different Form components to my site and they arn't working correctly. When I switch to Joomla default template and unpublish SuperSlider, all the form components work correctly.

I get that there is a JavaScript conflict. Is there some way that SuperSlider or JSQuery can work with other components that use a different scripting?

Cheers,
Stephen

Library conflicts are unfortunalty one of the joys of building websites. You will run into this with Joomla and any other CMS, as well as if you handcoded if for some strange reason you wanted to use MooTools and jQuery on the same site. We utilize noconflict mode in jQuery that typically takes care of most issues. We have found recently that a popular issue causing peopel strife is having jQuery load more then one time, or loading different version. This is why in many of our newer templates and extensions we offer the opportunity to turn off jQuery. While our products rely on it being on, if you load up some additional extension with hardcoded jQuery and a older version to boot, then turning it off on our end is a solution.

so, it comes down to seeing what is conflicting, and deciding the best course of action to either workaround it or resolve it. It is also advised to not run a extension that loads up a fat MooTools library, or Scriptalicious, when jQuery is also being loaded simply for load time size. Look for extensions or components that use jQuery. You will tend to have less issues.

As for your form issue. I tried a TON of forms a while back and never really found any I liked. MOst of them were way too complex too.
Do not forget this is all just code. Nothing is forcing you to use a Joomla extension if you dont want to. You can jsut as easily make a form in HTML and plop it into a static page within Joomla. If you HTML skills are poor, try out Jotform. With that service you can make a pretty complex form using their site and easily plop it into your Joomla site via a static html page. I use it all the time and am a big fan.

Thank You!

Matt, I would like to thank you for your quick repsonses and willingness to educate. I have asked a lot of questions lately in different forums and you and your team have been just great.

The solution, as you point out, is a simple HTML form. I have made lots of these and it will be easy and simpler. Excellent! Thank you.

Cheers
Stephen

Outstanding. As Joomla users sometimes we get into a rut thinking the only way to do something is to use a joomla product. Sometimes it's easier if you don't. :)

Thanks for the kind words.
