Answered: HTML Validation

What is your live site URL? (localhost if none): www.severnsidemortgages.co.uk
What browser does this happen in: Firefox 3.x, IE 7
What version of Joomla: Joomla 1.5
What OS? (your computer, not your server): Window
Joomla experience level: 4

Hi guys

I've got some SEO guys going through my site at the moment and they have mentioned that they would like to sort out the following problems with the validation, and it appears to me to be the Simple Contact possibly causing the issue.

[Invalid] Markup Validation of http://www.severnsidemortgages.co.uk/ - W3C Markup Validator

It seems that the &'s are giving the validation jip, and presumably this has a knock on effect. The website is live so I don't really want to start guessing my own PHP skills, which are zip- but if someone could give me a heads up that would be great.

I realise it could be some other module that is tripping it up and having a knock on effect.

BTW I'm using the Mocha template

Any comments would be appreciated.

Mav

Have you tried disabling the module to make sure it's the module? Just curious.

I will give Chris a poke to make sure he looks this issue over for yah. :)

Hadn't thought of that but just did it and its definately simplecontact

After disabling and running the validator:

Congratulations

The document located at <http://www.severnsidemortgages.co.uk/> was successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Transitional. This means that the resource in question identified itself as "XHTML 1.0 Transitional" and that we successfully performed a formal validation using an SGML, HTML5 and/or XML Parser(s) (depending on the markup language used).

Sorry guys!

Hi Mav,
The issue is related to the ampersand used in the email us link. Its weird though, cos i am sure i had the url set with the correct & before. Anywho, i'll take a look at the packaged version and post a fix a bit later :)
Cheers,
Chris
