| Unanswered: Joomla 1.7 & Morph
Hi Back in the summer I saw a demo of Morph and fell in love. Now I'm thinking about it again and wanting to use the template but looking around your site it's rare to see 1.6 compatable and I'm building in 1.7 now. Is Morph available for 1.7 or should I quit lusting over it. Also, I own Rational Magic - is there an update for it? Many thanks, Alison |

Hi Alison, Thanks for your nice words. :) Morph has come a long way since the summer, and we have recently chosen to licence Morph and Configurator under GPL, plus make the framework free to download. Check out the new information site about Morph: Home - Meet Morph - The Swiss Army Knife of Joomla Template Frameworks. Regarding Joomla compatibility: Morph currently only works on the latest longlife version of Joomla (which is 1.5). We are in the development of converting Morph to be on the Nooku framework, which means it’ll be compatible with higher versions of Joomla when it’s all done (no timeline yet, as we just went GPL and opened up development for community contributions) Going with Nooku means a lot of work on the code base of Morph, and this has been in the works for months already. That said, we know it's worth the time, effort and wait as it will make Morph faster, the code base leaner, plus much easier for developers to extend the framework with new features etc (crucial now when Morph is licensed under GPL). Keep in mind that Joomla 1.7 is another short-life version, see this for more info: Infographic: Joomla CMS Development Strategy :: Joomla! Community Magazine? We'll post more info on the getmorph.org blog as Morph develops, so keep your ears to the ground. ;) We're also on Twitter, so follow our updates on The Morph framework (@jMorph) on Twitter Cheers, Tess |
