| Answered: Thinking of rejoining, wondering what's happening
Hi All at Joomla Junkie, My membership lapsed and I am considering renewing but also am wondering what is actually happening in the pipeline. I do go to the Prometheus website and Twitter to try and get some useful news but between the two of them, the website seldom updated. Seems there is a Morph 2 Beta and a Morph 3 alpha, but as far as anything on a live site level, I am guessing we are still on Morph 1....? It's one of those times when I would rejoin but want to see something actually upgraded rather than an open ended timeline and having no idea when these new upgrades are going to actually be released proper. An example. The Prometheus site has had this message "only the blog for now but there is much more coming soon..." ever since I first visited it well over a year ago. I do think that "coming soon" gives an impression of, well, soon! and over a year of soon is pushing the envelope somewhat! Don't get me wrong, I think you guys are great and had some great support while I was a member, but if I am to shell out $149 I want to have some confidence in what I am seeing being promised and I am particularly confused by the never ending sense of something about to never happen on the Prometheus site...! Best wishes to you all Laurence |

Hi Laurence, Your points are valid and I understand where you are coming from. The first thing is that I want to say that the Morph development is very much our main focus and very healthy, which is why you see 2 version in the pipeline. Version 2.0 is a major update and is available to all members and we are working hard every week on new updates etc. Version 3.0 is identical to version 2.0 in terms of features etc, but it will be running on the Nooku framework though it's inherently, from a feature point of view, the same product. It's just that the underlying code base is different and allows for a better platform for the future of Morph. This is also part of the move to 1.6 compatibility, being on Nooku means its easier to have a single version of Morph that will work on both Joomla 1.5 and 1.6, instead of us having to create and maintain 2 different versions. Now regards the prothemer site and re branding, this is something we are all very aware of and wish we had more time and manpower to put into this and finish it. However, we are a small team and our primary focus is the product (Morph) and support as this is what our members use and are paying for at the end of the day. This takes up a large portion of our time and leaves little for us to complete the re branding process and new website. So we are in agreement that this should be done sooner rather than later, however, we also feel that we have our priorities in the correct order in that we focus our energy in the areas that impact our members the most in ensuring that we deliver what they are paying for. The new website has the least impact on our members and although it will be nice for them to have a new shiny site and name for them to look at, it will not benefit them as much as the Morph development. I hope this answers your questions and provides some insight into the situation. |
