When I share articles from some websites, facebook asks to choose which image to use for article's thumbnail. This doesn't happen with default joomla articles unless you use a 'link rel' in the code.

Actually I'm using the same thumbnail for all articles by using this code:

<link rel="image_src" href="http://www.website.com/preview.jpg" />

inside <head> </head> in /joomla/templates/mytemplate/index.php
and it's working.

However the 'preview.jpg' is grabbed by facebook even though shared article has 2-3 images included.

Anyone knows how to let facebook grab images from shared articles and use them for the preview?

I've also had a look here: Share | Facebook
and tried adding <link rel="image_src".... code directly in articles with no luck.

Hi Enrico,

I don't have an answer for you at the moment, but in general have you blocked/opened your images folder for indexing by bots? Just a thought, probably don't help you in this case, but something you should do anyway (in my opinion).

Let me know if you find out the solution. I've asked some Joomla friends about this one as well so we'll see if they come back with something. Btw, this forum thread is open for the public so you can tweet this url and ask people to reply here if you want. :)

Yes, images folder is blocked to bots as per robots.txt default setting:

Disallow: /images/

I'll give it a try by allowing it.
