Banner Centering

Hi

I have created a banner (468 px wide) and have added it through the Joomla banner manager, but it is left aligned in the template.

Is there a way of centering this banner within the centre area?

Many thanks

Dave.

Re:Banner Centering

remember to always create backups
let me know if you didnt understand what i was doing.
what template are you using because some templates a bit different in this area.
first we need to figure out what class or ID the banner currently has
then, go to your banner module and add a suffix to it
like
-custom
enter your CSS file that contains the banners current class or ID

say if the class was
.moduletable
since you added the suffix -custom
it would be
.moduletable-custom
so you would create the css as follows
.moduletable-custom { padding:2%; }

Re:Banner Centering

Hi

Thanks for your advice.

I take it that I am looking for the banner module in the template.css file - is that correct?

Cheers

Re:Banner Centering

yes, the banner module do you are using,
if joomla 1.5, module manager > banner
if joomla 1.0, site modules > banner
and add a module class suffix as -custom
and most likely in your customize.css or template_css.css
you would add the code stated above

Re:Banner Centering

You can add the banner position in a div and set it to center in the index.php, this is the easiest way generally.

<div align=\"center\">add module call for banner</div>

Re:Banner Centering

Yeah, its a handy trick for centering most things, but it has to be inside of a div with a fixed width... as far as I can remember.. so it can calculate the center.
