Screen flashes white in ie

When going from menu item to menu item on the top bar in IE the screen briefly flashes white. When doing the same thing in FireFox it\'s much more elegant. Is this just the way it is? Or is there something I can change. Noticed this on your site with both flex foto demo and extreme blogger.

Thanks,
Fred

Hi Fred,
Yeah i know - its really annoying. It has something to do with the opacity settings (we had the same when using a fade in effect on our old tooltips). Are you on mac and do you have font rendering turned on?
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for the quick reply. I\'m on Windows XP running on a laptop. I\'m on IE7 so not sure if turning on font rendering is an option.

Thanks

Hi Fred,
If i recall correctly, IE7 does have a font smoothing option (somewhere). I\'ll keep digging and let you know if i find anything :)
Cheers,
Chris

Chris - thanks. I found these steps but didn\'t seem to make any difference:

1. Open IE7
2. Open Tool Menu
3. Click Internet Options
4. Click Advanced Tabs
5. Under Multimedia, clear the Use ClearType checkbox
6. Click OK X 2

Re:Screen flashes white in ie

Actually I\'m using a different template on this site now - although still using a joomla junkie template on another one but issue remains. fraction of a second but white every time.

Thanks
Fred

Re:Screen flashes white in ie

It doesnt happen on windows (that i have been able to replicate) but it does happen on my mac - generally when anything loads that changes opacity when font smoothing is on (on my mac at least).. I\'ve seen this behavior happen on loads of different templates / sites, but havent quite figured out a fix for it yet.

I have always noticed a slight dimming of websites when javascript gets run. Maybe that is what you guys are talking about.
