| In the news: 3 interviews and exciting times ahead!
We were recently contacted by some very curious interviewers from JoomStew Radio, SouthLaSalleMEDIA and Joomla! Community Magazine. It resulted in 1 review and 3 interviews talking about Morph’s features and future, Joomla template frameworks, Nooku and much more. These interviews show that you can expect very exciting times ahead – lets just say: Morph goes Nooku [...] Read more... |

Hi JJunkies, So, I listened to the JoomlStew Interview and have not a clue what "Morph goes Nooku" means. Could you explain a bit? With continued Platinum Support ;-) and best wishes, Erik (who uses Morph on a couple of live sites with pleasure :-)) |

Hey Erik :) Nice to see you back, you've been a bit scare over the past couple months ;) Nooku is an extensions & web application framework, spear headed by Johan Janssens, who was one of the first architects of the Joomla framework. Nooku is essentially everything we wish Joomla's framework was. It enables us to develop new features substantially faster, with less code and less bugs. It is also what powers Ninjaboard, the Anahita Social Engine. You can find out more about Nooku here Nooku Framework - Rapid extension development framework for Joomla. Cheers, Chris |

Hey Erik, Like with Ninjaboard, Nooku will be installed in the background when installing Morph and Configurator. You won't really notice anything on the surface, at least not initially (we have some pretty big ui changes planned once we're stable on Nooku). The Nooku version will be 2.0 and will replace the old version - no point maintaining two versions. By application framework, it just means that it gives us a really solid foundation to build on. Less code means less bugs and quicker turn around time on new features. In a way its kind of like how jQuery allows you to do more with less, but in a Joomla extension sense. Hope that clarifies things a bit :) Cheers, Chris |

Chris & Stian, correct me if I'm wrong, but just to clarify: Morph is already running on a few well-known and popular frameworks (jQuery, Joomla, YUI CSS etc). The addition of Nooku makes Morph even better from a point of view of fewer bugs, easier to implement and release new features, and last but not least: much easier to keep up to date with website development trends thanks to the frameworks used contiously being improved and developed (why reinvent the wheel when there's so much amazing frameworks out there that can be used/implemented?). Here's where I'm a bit fuzzy on the details (not being a coder myself): Nooku has more functions than Joomla, which means we're able to re-use snippets of code instead of having to write it all from scratch - which means it's a huuuge time saver as well as opens up a whole new world of features to implement...which at the end of the day will benefit the user of Morph. For advanced developers, this means that if they're familiar with the frameworks used (for example Nooku) they can dig deeper into Morph and customize, tweak and extend things even easier than now? Are there any other advantages for advanced users? Thanks. Tess Last edited by tess; 08-31-2010 at 02:08 PM. |
