Posted by: Chris Rault in news on

As many of you already know, we have desperately been searching for the right person to come on board here at JoomlaJunkie. Well, it seems that finding that *right person* was a bit harder than we had expected. That being said, good things come to those who wait - or in this case search high and low for.

I am extremely happy to welcome Matt King to the JoomlaJunkie team! We've been chatting to a number of different people, all with varied talents, but in the end

magento commerce production released I am absolutely thrilled to say that Magento production release is officially available for download!!! Whoopeeee!!! I have been waiting for this day for a long time, now we just need to find some excuse to use it for something ;0)

In case you don't already know, Magento is an enterprise open source ecommerce platform. I have used many different ecommerce systems over the years and i can safely say that there is absolutely nothing that i have ever tested that

wordpress 2.5 released today Going through my feeds this morning, i noticed that Wordpress 2.5 stable is official available! Not only that. but Wordpress.org has also received a much needed facelift. I think they have done a great job and i find the new site to be a lot more inviting than its predescessor. I guess at the end of the day it comes down to a matter of opinion though :0)

I downloaded a copy of the RC1 release last week and was pleasantly surprised. I was a bit put off at first

zim elections Today marks a very important day for the African continent. The long awaited, long overdue and much anticipated presidential elections of Zimbabwe.

Being our neighboring country many of us are wondering whether we will see a free and fair election? Based on the track record of previous elections, many would say that this is highly unlikely. According to various sources, there is a serious shortage of polling stations in urban areas, the voter polls are highly

Moourl - The web's cutest URL shortening service

Who's got a tiny what??

I'm talking about TINY URL's (universal resource locator). I am sure that many of you are familiar with the various url shortening services out there (such as the original tinyurl.com), but for those who don't here is a quick summary:

"TinyURL (tinyurl.com) is a web service created by Kevin Gilbertson that provides short aliases to redirect long URLs. Gilbertson, a web developer, launched the service in January 2002 because he wanted to be

MarkItUp - A lightweight, powerful and flexible editor engine

Whilst doing my usual rounds on the web this morning, I stumbled across a real gem. This particular gem is a simple (yet incredibly powerful) Markup Editor. You may be thinking that this is another WYSIWYG Editor (What You See Is What You Get), but it is a bit different. With a true WYSIWYG Editor it is exactly that - what your seeing is how your content will look. You don't actually see the markup (code) that constructs the html output. In the case of a Markup

For those of you have aren't already aware, Joomla! 1.5.2 was released on Sunday. Its nice to see the dev team are set on releasing frequent updates to address outstanding issues. Though it is only a maintenance release, it still takes us one step closer to 1.6!

As the craziness of the holiday season is starting to settle and we are now back in full force, we thought it would be a good time to go over the new site and explain how everything is structured. The feedback we have received thus far has been great, but we would still love to hear your thoughts / comments. What do you like / dislike? Is there anything you feel we could have done better? If so, please post your ideas / feedback on the following forum thread.

We've had loads of questions lately about the changes to the payment methods we are accepting. Since our new offices are back home in Sunny Cape Town, South Africa, our only option at this stage is 2Checkout as Paypal has not managed to crack open our Forex laws, which is why we have had to disable paypal as a payment option in the checkout.

That being said, we are glad to announce that 2Checkout now offers the ability to pay with your Paypal account, giving us the
