New site architecture explained

Posted by: Chris Rault in site updatesjoomlajunkie

As the craziness of the holiday season is starting to settle and we are now back in full force, we thought it would be a good time to go over the new site and explain how everything is structured. The feedback we have received thus far has been great, but we would still love to hear your thoughts / comments. What do you like / dislike? Is there anything you feel we could have done better? If so, please post your ideas / feedback on the following forum thread. Please note you will need to be logged in to post.

Subscription Members Site:
The subscriptions site is a completely standalone site, specifically for our Subscription / Club Members. Because of this, club members will still need to register on the main site in order to use the Members Forum. We understand that this is not the ideal scenario, but we decided it was the best and we are investigating other alternatives, but for the time being

Commercial Templates
Our commercial templates product pages have all received a major facelift and we hope you will agree that they are now a lot more comprehensive and easier to read. We have also grouped relevant links in each products page, so finding the templates guide or demo is a lot simpler.

Free Templates (and other downloads)
We have decided to keep all our free templates and any future free resources, all grouped together in our new downloads manager. We will be adding other great resources to the list as the new year progresses.

Templates Demo
Our templates demo site has also received a bit of a facelift and can still be seen at the same link as before.

Where to find Help & Support

Members Forum:
We decided to use Fireboard for the new site, due to it being 100% built for Joomla and resolves previous integration issues we experienced when using Vanilla. Fireboard is actively being developed and has already grown an active community.

Template Guides:
On our previous site, all of the template guides were in their own subsite. With the new site, we included all the template guides in the main site. Simply go to the link below and select your template and all relevant documentation is available.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Another useful resource that we have added to the new site is our Frequently Asked Questions section. This will continuously be updated and in most case covers a large portion of the questions we receive on a daily basis. If you think that there is something that is missing, be sure to drop us a line using our contact form and if it is relevant, then we will add it.

Bug / Issue Tracker:
Another key area we wanted to address with the new site, is having a central place where any bugs or issues can be tracked. After extensive research, we decided that Arctic Issue Tracker was best suited to our needs. At present, there is no integration options with Joomla!, so in order to submit a bug/issue and be notified when updates are made, you will need to register in order to use this. That being said, registration is a quick and simple process, so we don't foresee this as being an issue.
