You 've all heard about MyBlog - the great blogging software used in conjunction with the JoomlaJunkie site and their templates, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about...
How to Manage Your Blog - M.Y.Blog
So you've set up the software and you're itching to write your first post. You write it, spell check it and then PUBLISH IT! Yay, you're up and running. But what next? Well maybe the next few posts aren't too hard, after all it's still a novelty. But what will you do when the novelty wears off?
Nothing is quite so stale as an abandoned or lapsed blog
Keeping your blog fresh and interesting can be quite a challenge. My tips for making this a little easier and taking the pressure off are as follows:
- Before you do your first post, write a list of 30 topics that you could write at least two paragraphs on.
- On the first of each month add to your list to make up for any topics you have used plus an extra two.
- Read widely on anything that interests you or in your field if you have a one topic blog.
- Keep a spreadsheet of relevant information. e.g If you read something useful on the web. Copy and paste the article into a .txt or .doc file; save it and then insert it into your spreadsheet as an object. Date and source the article in adjacent fields and add some keywords so you can see at a glance what the file is about. That way the information is ready when you want to comment on it.
- Any current, newsworthy events or information should be used ASAP. It shows people your blog is up-to-speed.
If you adopt my suggestions you'll find that the pressure is always off. Phew! And your blog will always be full of useful and interesting posts. If you're still to busy to post regularly then re-evaluate whether or not you need a blog. If you still think you do then consider employing a professional to write it for you. If you really need a blog on your site but don't have the time to write it yourself The Copywriter Online can help.
