New forum on Joomlajunkie.comWell we did it, we jumped ship and went with a entirely new forum script. We were rapidly outgrowing Fireboard and needed something that was a little more robust.

You probably want to know how to log in so you can look around our new house: click here to find out!

Of course this entire system is new for us and will be evolving every day. If something does not work as expected or is broke, let us know. We try to catch everything, but it is a work in progress so

This blog post is written in relation to this previous blog post: "Rational Magic and new menu system"

The page suffix feature in Joomla! is one that is often under-utilized. The idea behind page suffix is to give you additional control over an individual page of your website. An example of this could be setting a custom background image on a specific page. The way the default Joomla page suffix is setup, this wouldn't actually be possible, but the theory is there ;0)

Problems with default page suffix in Joomla

The problem with the way the default page suffix is setup in Joomla is that when you add a custom page suffix for a page, some of the elements on that page get messed up (i.e. the content heading and what not). The other problem is that, in order to really take advantage of this, the page suffix actually needs to be set on a much higher element on the page, i.e. as a class on the body element.

Over the last few years I have learned how to live along with the dreaded IE6 browser and code in a way that keeps it happy most of the time and keeping bugs to the minimum. One area however that just keeps on frustrating me is the lack of transparency support for native transparent png in IE6.

Those of you who know Aurora, one of our most famous templates to date which uses extensive transparency, will be surprised to hear I am still struggling with transparency,

As always we get contacted from people eager to know "Whats next on the menu from JoomlaJunkie?" Well, you would all be very happy to hear me say "a heck of allot!" We have a number of projects running in tandem and they will start being revealed soon...so sit tight my friends. To kick this off, here is a sneaky peek look at Dark Rational - our next Joomla template...

Our most popular Joomla template to date is arguably Rational Magic and Dark Rational brings the same, no wait, more... features and enhancements making it our most flexible and sexy offering to date. Be warned though.... it's not called Dark Rational for nothing - it's a dark and incredibly shiny design to the end. Lovers of dark design will be in awe at first site (and who knows, maybe we can convert some of those non believers). ;)

SimpleContact module for JoomlaThe first version we did of this Joomla contact module was super simple to say the least. All the fields were manually entered from within the modules options and it had no interaction with Joomla! or the core contact component... so, based on the positive feedback we received when the module was launched, we decided to extend on the concept and take it a step further.

You will notice that the modules name is still "SimpleContact" and the reason for this is, although its already a whole lot cooler than the first version, its still not quite "Super" yet ;0) We plan on further extending the module to have a bunch of other neat options, so be sure to keep an eye out for updates!

Over the past month JoomlaJunkie has experienced some internal growth, and with that growth we are trying to improve ourselves.  We continually look ahead and strive to improve your experience with us.  But looking ahead sometimes means forgetting the past and that is not our style.  When we looked behind we realized we wanted to get some of our older templates updated to work with Joomla 1.5 nativly.  (That means no more Legacy mode.)

This month we are happy to announce Vector has been converted and runs on Joomla 1.5.  More details about Vector after the jump.
