| The dangers of a WYSIWYG editor |
|
These are a few examples of how inline editors create dirty code.
Font tags. Move it to CSS, font tags do not belong here anymore unless you are coding your MySpace layout. <TABLE><TR><TD><FONT color=#888888 face=TAHOMA size=9>JoomlaJunkie is great!</FONT><TD TD><FONT color=#888888 face=TAHOMA size=9>Don't you think?!</FONT><TDTD><FONT color=#888888 face=TAHOMA size=9>This code is so much fun to read!</FONT><TD><TR><TABLE>
Leftover markup from text editors like MS Word that is not useful. <a style='mso-footnote-id:ftn171' href="#_ftn171"
Imporoper usage of divs. Using <DIV> instead of <p>. (I fall victim to this all the time.)
Using editors is fine, but make sure you do not rely on them totally.
Once you rely less on inline editors you will become a stronger coder and separate yourself from the pack. We build templates ourselves, but we are not so arrogent that we think we are done learning. We still pick up books to checkout new techniques or brush up on topics. One of our favorite accessability books on the market is available here . Now that you are not totally reliant on your WYSIWYG editor, lets make your articles look even better by adding some graphical elements to them. The next article show you all the cool features we have included in our newest templates to make your site standout. |
