To make sure your template is setup correctly, please make sure you read through the template guide thoroughly. We have made the template as customisable as possible and all our css is fully commented.
Before You Start:
Once you have successfully downloaded your template, you will need to extract the zip archive to your local computer, using a free archive utility like 7zip (PC) or MacZip (Mac),
extract the contents on the zip (named something along the lines of "ExtractMe-TemplateName.zip" onto your computer.
First of all, lets start by explaining whats included in your download and how we have structured the files.
In the main folder that you have just extracted to, you should have the following folders:
- Auto Install (This includes the auto-install file that you will use to install the template automatically)
- Template Install (This includes the standard template file that you would use to install only the template)
- Source Files (These are the Fireworks source files that we designed the template in. If you dont have a copy of Fireworks, you can always download a trial version from the Macromedia site here.)
- Fonts (Any relevant fonts for the template)
Step 1.) Installing Joomla using the Auto Installer.
- Extract the contents of the template compresed file (in the Auto Installer directory) to your site root.
- Browse to your web site root, Joomla "Temporary Unavailable" will show.
- Type /installation/ in the address bar after you install root (e.g. http://www.yoursite.com/installation/)
- Check your server settings, click next. The database name can be anything you like, but the username and password must be as setup in your database management control panel.
- Accept the GNU/GPL license by clicking next.
- Click "Continue...", Give your site a name, click continue.
- Change these settings to your settings, you must make the admin password "change me" - change this once your site is setup!
- Delete the installation directory, click view site and your site is installed with the template setup!
Step 2.) Installing just the Template.
- Go to "Installers > Template Site"
- Browse for the template zip file in the Template Install folder.
- Click "Upload File and Install".
- Click "Continue..."
- In the Template Manager, select the new template's radio box and click on the "Default" button (top right).
The template will now be successfully installed, so you can proceed to Step Three to setup your modules.
Step 3.) Setting the module options.
We have setup the entire template to pretty much work "out the box", so there isn't much you need to do. Below is an image showing all the module positions:
- Left Sidebar Menu
(Left Mod) - To get your sidebar menu displaying the same as on the demo site all you need to do is set the main menu module to a "flat list".
- Site Footer Menu - We are using the "Other Menu" module to act as the footer menu. All you need for this to work properly, is open the "Other Menu" module, set the module position to user 5,
the menu type to flat list and suffix to -footer.
- Syndicate Module - To get this looking the same as the demo site, firstly copy the image rss-btn.gif (found included in the Vooloo template image directory) to your (Site Root)images/m_images/ directory. Once this is done, open the syndicate module options from the Joomla Administration. Set the module position to user 6, under the paramaters set only rss 2.0 to show, and then below that set the rss 2.0 button image to the rss-btn.gif image.
