Template Guide - Mismo

To make sure your template is setup correctly, please make sure you read through the template guide thoroughly. We have made the template as customisable as possible and all our css is fully commented.

Before You Start:

Once you have successfully downloaded your template, you will need to extract the zip archive to your local computer, using a free archive utility like 7zip (PC) or MacZip (Mac), extract the contents on the zip (named something along the lines of "ExtractMe-TemplateName.zip" onto your computer.

First of all, lets start by explaining whats included in your download and how we have structured the files. In the main folder that you have just extracted to, you should have the following folders:

  • Template Install (This includes the actual file that you will use to install the template)
  • Needed Mambot (The one and only thing you need to install is the JQ Mambot, which is located here)
  • Source Files (These are the Fireworks source files that we designed the template in. If you dont have a copy of Fireworks, you can always download a trial version from the Macromedia site here.)

Step 1.) Installing the needed Mambot.

  1. Login to Joomla Admin.
  2. Go to "Installers > Mambots" from the top menu.
  3. Click on "Browse" and navigate to the "Needed Mambot" folder. Select "BOT.JXCORE.SYSTEM.BUILD82.zip" then click "OK" then "Upload File & Install".
  4. You should now see the "Upload Mambot - Success" page. Click "Continue...".
  5. Next, go to the Mambots Manager and make sure that the JXCORE mambot is Published. This is very important, as the style switcher and font resizer both require this mambot to be published.

Now that the JQuery System mambot has successfully been installed (and published) you can proceed to Step Two to install the template.

Step 2.) Installing the Template.

  1. Now go to "Installers > Template Site"
  2. Browse for the template zip file in the Template Install folder.
  3. Click "Upload File and Install".
  4. Click "Continue..."
  5. In the Template Manager, select the new template's radio box and click on the "Default" button (top right).

The template will now be successfully installed, so you can proceed to Step Three to setup your modules.

Step 3.) Setting the module options.

We have setup the entire template to pretty much work "out the box", so there isn't much you need to do.

  1. Left Sidebar Menu - To get your sidebar menu displaying the same as on the demo site all you need to do is set the main menu module to a "flat list".
  2. Site Footer Menu - We are using the "Other Menu" module to act as the footer, as there isn't a footer menu by default in Joomla!. All you need for this to work properly, is open the "Other Menu" module, set a module and menu suffix
of "-footer", choose Menu Type: "Flat List" and assign it to the "Footer" module positon.
  3. To use the 4 module positions above the main content area, all you need to do is publish the modules you would like displayed, to the user1, user2, user5, user6 module positions. All the module positions in this template are full collapsibile, so if nothing is published to a specific module position, it will not be displayed. A great module for displaying content in this top shelf area, is the Flex Content module.
