These are the instructions to help you setup Joomla using our JoomlaInstaller.
Please use these instructions as a guideline.
Pre-Install
Once you have successfully downloaded the installer, you will need to extract the zip archive to your local computer, using a free archive utility like 7zip (PC) or
MacZip (Mac),
extract the contents on the zip file onto your computer.
Once you have done that, upload the entire contents via FTP to your website.
If you do not want to put it in your root directory you can put it in a subdirectory, just make sure that you go to the subdirectory in the next step.
In your web browser go to http://yourwebsite/installation/ and you will start the Joomla installation process.

It is important that most of the system checks pass or else you might have issues farther along in the install.
In the very least the first 6 required settings must pass.
Make sure your permissions are all set properly, or the rest will be far more difficult.
License Agreement
This is where you agree to Joomla's licensing agreement.
This section explains how Joomla can be used, what you can and cannot do with Joomla and various legal information.

Step 1
In this step you must fill in your MySql database information.
You cannot proceed any farther until you create your database, your user and your password.
If you need more information on how to complete this step we suggest you look over the Joomla Instruction manual.
It is very important that you install the sample data here.

It is very important that you install the sample data here.
The sample data has our helpful information and template details.
If you do not install this you will make it more difficult to setup your site.
Even if you have installed Joomla a few times before, this is a poor shortcut and defeats the purpose of using the JoomlaJunkie Installer .
Step 2
Step 2 and you are already virtually done.
How much easier could it be?
In this step you must name your site.
You can change this later if you like.

Step 3
Visually confirm everything looks correct here and enter your administrator email address.
This is how people will contact you if things go wrong, and is also the email that is used when the website sends out notices and info to users.
Enter the password you wish to use to login to the Joomla backend.

Changing permissions is for experienced users only.
If you are still new to Joomla, or if you are unfamiliar with file permissions on Linux it is best to leave these settings alone.
If you would like to learn more about file permissions on *nix systems the internet is choc full of articles.
We do not have any one favorite as everybody learns differently and this is one area you need to really sit and read a bit.
Step 4
Once you get to this point you are just about done.
Login to your site via FTP and delete the "installation" folder in the directory you installed the QuickInstaller to.
You must do this step or you cannot login to your sites administration area.

Step 5
Once you delete the installation directory in the previous step, you will be presented with this on your sites frontpage.
This page displays a checklist of what it has accomplished.
It also has lots of helpful resources for you.
If you are ready to install your JoomlaJunkie template, click the link in the middle.
This is a brief movie clip that will show you how to install your JoomlaJunkie template in a few simple clicks.
Additional Tips
These are a few assorted tips you mind find helpful.
TIP: Setting the "Blog" View Contents to display as 1 column not 2.
By default, when linking to category or section of content items, Joomla sets the "blog view" to display in 2 columns. If you would like to change this so that they display one underneath the other, simply open up the menu link for that category/section and from the right hand side "parameters" options, set the options as follows:
- Leading: 1
- Intro: 0
- Columns: 1 (this is the important part)
TIP: Getting TinyMCE Editor to display properly.
One of the most frequent questions we get asked is how to get the default Joomla editor to display properly when editing content. The problem that occurs with the way the editor works. By default, it will automatically pull the styling from the published template, which means if there is a background color or graphic set on the templates frontend, this will be used as the editors background. This makes editing content really difficult. To get this to display a normal white background all you need to do is login to your Joomla! admin, go to the Mambots Manager, click on the "TinyMCE WYSIWYG Editor" to edit its properties. From the modules parameters on the right, make sure that "Template CSS classes" is set to No. This will then revert the editor to use its own default styling, giving you a nice white background to edit your content in.
TIP: Site Footer Menu.
We are using the "Other Menu" module to act as the footer, as there isn't a footer menu by default in Joomla!. All you need for this to work properly, is open the "Other Menu" module, set a module and menu suffix
of "-footer", choose Menu Type: "Flat List" and assign it to the "Footer" module positon.
